As National Women’s Health Week comes to a close, we encourage women to continue to prioritize their physical and mental health by getting regular medical care, practicing healthy behaviors, and managing stress. Racial and ethnic minority women experience disparities in chronic disease, and social and economic factors that affect their ability to access high quality healthcare and attain their highest level of health. National Women’s Health Week is reminder that we must be steadfast in our pursuit of equity for all women. The CMS Office of Minority Health has a variety of resources in support of this mission:
- Review their Coverage to Care (C2C) Women Preventive Services flyer—available in nine languages—to help women learn about preventive services available to them at no cost under most health coverage.
- Explore other C2C resources, like the Roadmap to Better Care, which explains how to access primary care and preventive services, and the Manage Your Chronic Condition webpage, which describes the benefits of chronic care management for patients with multiple chronic conditions.
- Read through the Breast Cancer Screening Disparities in Medicare Beneficiaries data snapshot to learn about racial and geographic disparities in breast cancer screenings among Medicare enrollees.
- Share their Rural Maternal Health Care resources, including Advancing Rural Maternal Health Equity, A Conversation on Maternal Health Care in Rural Communities, and Improving Access to Maternal Health Care in Rural Communities, to learn how CMS is working to improve maternal health outcomes for women in rural areas.
- Visit the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Office on Women’s Health website to explore National Women’s Health Week resources.
