About the Course
CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Office of Antibiotic Stewardship first launched this thirteen-module, web-based training course in 2018. The course is designed to help clinicians improve antibiotic use to combat antibiotic resistance and improve healthcare quality and patient safety. The course has 3 objectives to update healthcare professionals on current antibiotic resistance threats, inform healthcare professionals about proper antibiotic prescribing, and encourage open discussion among physicians and patients about appropriate antibiotic prescribing.
Who should complete the course?
While the course is primarily for clinicians who prescribe antibiotics, CDC recognizes that everyone plays an important role in improving antibiotic use. The following healthcare professionals are all eligible to receive CE: doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified health education specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and public health practitioners with a master’s degree in public health. The course is accessible in modules that can be taken in any order.
