DESCRIPTION:With sepsis and septic shock as leading causes of death worldwide\, sepsis mortality continues to be a challenge. Sepsis is a life-threatening\, complex\, and challenging condition to manage\, and anyone can develop it. Though traditionally associated with bacterial infection\, sepsis can develop from many types of infection\, including viral and fungal infections. \nWith the emergence of inpatient stays in 2020 related to COVID-19 (an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus) came additional vulnerability to developing sepsis. Aggregate hospital costs for sepsis stays increased by 66.8 percent from 2016 to 2021 to $52.1 billion. (AHRQ\,2024). DESCRIPTION:More than 1 million Medicare beneficiaries had a diagnosis of opioid use disorder (OUD) in 2020.\nHowever\, fewer than one in five received medication to treat this condition. In addition\, the number of patients who stay in treatment after hospital discharge decrease drastically. \nThis webinar series is a collaboration between all Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organizations and will provide strategies\, interventions\, and targeted solutions to ensure access to MOUD treatment and facilitate continuity of care through the continuum. \nSession 9: Management of Patients on MOUD: Key Takeaways and Series Wrap Up \nIn this session\, a general certificate of attendance will be provided for continuing education/contact hours. Attendees are responsible for determining if this program meets the criteria for licensure or recertification for their discipline.
